Task

5.0.2.0. The new unit leader may check the time with people who were there

Optional May not apply

This may not apply to you. You have not answered "Where did the advancement come from?" yet. Answer it and this step will either settle or drop off.

To confirm that time already spent meets the requirements, the new unit leader may check with past unit leaders, parents, guardians or others. It is a verification the leader may carry out, not a burden of proof placed on the Scout.

Notes and warnings

Note. The Guide gives this to the new unit leader as something they may do, in the same paragraph that says time away must not be held against the Scout. Both are true at once: verify with the adults who were there, and do not turn the verification into a hurdle.

Where this step comes from

  1. Guide to Advancement (2025), Section 5.0.2.0 · The new unit leader may check with past unit leaders, parents, guardians or others.
